About the course
This six day workshop is an exciting introduction to documentary filmmaking techniques aimed at young emerging filmmakers. You will gain essential technical skills on industry standard HDV cameras, sound equipment and digital editing software. You'll learn about different roles within the industry and find out how to develop a film idea.
You will learn:
- What makes a good documentary film
- How to research your idea
- How to work as part of a crew
- Camera skills
- Interviewing techniques
- How to shoot and direct your documentary film
- Digital editing
- How to get your film seen online
During the course you’ll work in small groups to create your own short documentary film. You'll research and shoot a two minute doc, and learn technical editing skills on Final Cut Pro software. Working with experienced industry professionals, you'll develop filmmaking skills through technical workshops and practical shooting. During the course you will gain an insight into the documentary production process to get the edge when starting out in this highly competitive industry.
